Beware of the Pot Holes

Surely you have noticed all the potholes in the road lately. Its a wonder with the weather this winter. They are only going to get worse before they get better so its best just avoid them entirely if you can. More damage can be incurred to a vehicle striking a pot hole at higher speeds, including compromised handling of the vehicle. Do not apply brakes when the driving over a pothole. This tilt the vehicle forward and places stress on the front suspension. Potholes cause premature damage to the suspension and steering components. Tires and rims can be damaged as well as the shocks and struts.

Because the steering and suspension are compromised under this duress, potholes are the leading contributor to a vehicle needing an alignment. Also, under or over inflated tires can be more easily damaged than properly inflated tires. Rims can dent or crack from these pothole strikes as well. These strikes can also result in total tire failure or premature tire wear and poor vehicle handling.

If you have any concerns regarding a recent pothole strike make sure you stop by or call Mike or Steve in our Service Department. They can make certain your vehicle is in perfect working condition.
